| My favourite book is Catcher In The Rye, most people hate it but idc. I don't really read much, I don't have enough time, or I don't think I do, too busy being with friends and xbox.

| I can't really decide on a favorite book, but it has got to be out of the Dark Tower series. | |

| I think I preferred The Wasteland to Wizard and Glass if only because I like abandoned cities a lot. | |

| The Wasteland was good, but the origins of Roland are far more appealing to me than abandoned cities, clock-men, and talking monos... | |

| I can see that, it's been a long while since i read them so I'm having trouble remembering what each one is about. But I do remember being dissatisfied with the amount of background we were given on Roland, this might have changed once I read the later books but like i said, it was a long time ago.
Also, why did the dead baby cross the road?

| Well they do, most people love that book. Personally I thought it was trash, but I hardly speak for most people. Anyway, books... my Dawn of the Dead poster says there was a Dawn of the Dead book. Is this win? | |

| I didn't like the main character. I understand that Holden was supposed to be an antihero, but he's become a symbol for teenage angst everywhere. Not only that, but he sucked as an antihero, first he wouldn't tell that kid's mom that he hated her kid because he thought she looked like a nice lady, and then he failed multiple attempts at getting laid one of which ended in him getting beat up and robbed. The point of an antihero is that they are supposed to be a badass whom you can't sympathize with in the slightest (Clint Eastwood in The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly). I also hate Holden because he quietly judged EVERYONE from the sidelines in an attempt to compensate for his own self loathing while never posessing the real courage to stand up and confront people about the problems he saw in them. Mostly, I don't like it because it's a book about being drunk and lonely.
THAT BEING SAID: It was a very well written book, and even though I wanted to burn Holden and his sister to death with a wok full of acid throughout the entire thing, I can see why people would still be able to enjoy him as a character if he was looked at in the right way.

| Ok, so several of us are reading books for school right now.
I'm reading Wuthering Heights Nathan's reading Enrique's Journey and something else Kyle is reading something, I'm sure and Brandon's even reading the Scrapped Princess light novels
so, lets tell each other all about our books and try and have engaging conversations about them

| Well, I'm not really sure what to say about Scrapped Princess. It's about a princess who was prophecised to bring about ruin to the world on her 16th birthday, so she was 'scrapped' at birth. But, of course, the Queen didn't want her to die so she had one of the servents take the child to the Cassulls, one was a very powerful sorceress and the other a very powerful swordman. Their respective talents have been passed on to their children: (except for Pacifica, the Scrapped Princess, who can't seem to fight at all) Raquel, the daughter and sourceress, and Shannon, the son and swordman. And now they go on an adventure fighting bandits and the royal military until Pacifica's 16th birthday. I think it's a pretty good series and is pretty different from most everything else I've seen. | |
