For lack of a better subject, I don't know how to respond to Kaiju's earlier post, I say we discuss anime movies and since I'm in a Makoto Shinkai mood, whats everyone's favorite Shinkai movie? Mine would be Voices of a Distant Star.

I agree, tentatively, since I haven't seen them all. The art bugs me (specifically the CGI) but they're understandable due to shinkai working by himself. the txt message thing is really cool, and I thought that there was no merit to those things before I saw it. I like how the romance of the movie was enhanced by something generally considered to be impersonal.

Now if only someone else knew what we were talking about...

In the fight between Roberta and Revy, who do you think won?

The way i remember it, Roberta was kind of better than Revy. But the fight at the end, I think them knocking each other out was to show that they were equal.

yeah, it seemed like revy got owned at the beginning, but I dont really think she did because she was in the air and there was no way for her to manuever when that rocket knocked her out.

Also, yes they did knock each other out, but their fight lasted over an hour at least, and Revy had been shot in the shoulder earlier in the episode, so I think that the loss of blood she suffered would have been a significant enough handicap that I can say with confidence that Revy kicked her ass.

The car crash was crazy, true but there were no open wounds from the crash and Revy got hit by a fucking ROCKET so i'm gonna ignore those, but yeah, no open wounds = no loss of blood

So, on an entirely opposite subject, who thinks Mikako lived at the end of Voices of a distant star? I really don't have any idea what I think, and I'd like to hear someone else's opinion on the matter. I'm sure Brandon'll have an opinion on this, and i'll probably just go with him, but maybe this will motivate others to see the masterpiece that Voices is.

I am dl'ing season 1 of BL now and almost done, i'll watch it 2marrow and comment about it.

You can't rule out things like broken bones or internal bleeding though.

I'm actually not sure, as you know i re watched it last night and was thinking about this. Seeing as how only one of the ships was destroyed on screen and she only destroyed one of the enemy ships , disabling her mech at the same time, I would guess that the remainder of the flee was wiped out and she probably drifted off into space. I do wish they had expanded more on what intelligent life form inhabited the planet they came across, but hey it was a 25 minute movie, I can't really ask for much.

We were discussing the movie, and that's what i said i think shes dead. But it still wasn't very conclusive as to who won the final battle.
